What exactly is “Tae Kwon Do” and how is it different from other martial arts like Karate or Kung Fu?
The different martial arts all originated in different countries thousands of years ago, as forms of self-defense. Karate comes from Japan and Kung Fu from China. Tae Kwon Do is native to Korea. In terms of techniques, Tae Kwon Do emphasizes kicks more than other martial arts, making it ideal for improving balance, flexibility, and endurance. In addition, Tae Kwon Do is popular worldwide as an international sport and is included in the Olympic games. Currently more people study the art of Tae Kwon Do than all other forms of martial arts combined.

How do new students get started?
All new students begin by participating in a trial program that costs just $49. This program includes four weeks of classes and a uniform. This will allow you to evaluate the quality of the school, ease into training and decrease any discomfort you may feel about being “new”.

At what age can children start?
Our experience has shown that children ages four and up will be able to take the greatest advantage from Tae Kwon Do classes. Starting at age four, children are eligible to participate in our trial program, which allows our instructors to work with them one on one and evaluate their readiness for group classes. Our staff will use their experience to recommend the best course of action for you to take with your child.
Does learning Tae Kwon Do increase children’s aggressiveness?
Absolutely not! All children are taught from the first lesson that a true “Tae Kwon Do kid” never misuses their martial arts skills. Throughout their training students are reminded that being physically and mentally tough doesn’t allow one to be tough with others. Instead, Tae Kwon Do students are expected to be humble, courteous, respectful and careful about when and where they practice their skills. The instructors at Master Kim's continuously remind students that Tae Kwon Do is a form of exercise and self-improvement not a tool for bullying.
How safe is it to learn?
Tae Kwon Do is safe and fun for students of all ages and physical abilities. Classes are supervised by expert instructors. All students are taught techniques in a step-by-step manner and at their own pace. Separating classes by belt levels, a thorough stretching routine, matted flooring, and the use of protective safety equipment are all part of our commitment to ensuring student safety.
What if I never did martial arts before or if I am currently out of shape?
At Master H Kim's World Class Tae Kwon Do, we have ongoing enrollment, so beginners are always welcome. Our special trial program makes it easy for new students of all fitness levels to get started. First time students receive one on one instruction designed to answer common questions and provide an introduction to the basics of Tae Kwon Do. In addition the belt system used in Tae Kwon Do allows all students to train at their own pace and to improve their physical condition gradually.
How often do students attend classes and how flexible is the schedule?
In order to attain benefits and progress at a reasonable rate we recommend that students attend classes two to three times per week. Our three convenient locations and full time staff allow us to offer an extremely flexible schedule. Classes for all levels and ages are held several times a week and students are able to choose the classes that work out best for them.
Who teaches the classes?
Of course the most important element in learning martial arts is the quality of instruction. At our centers we pride ourselves on our “World Class” staff. In addition to their exceptional skills and knowledge, you will also find our instructors to be friendly, patient, enthusiastic and great motivators. How long does it take to become a Black Belt?
The Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do is symbolic of an advanced level of skills as well as above average physical, mental, and emotional strength. The length of study necessary to attain a Black Belt varies depending on one’s effort and dedication. On average, our students train for a period of three and a half to four years to attain Black Belt status.
How long does it take to start seeing results?
Studying Tae Kwon Do has lifelong benefits and is designed to be a lifelong study. However, initial benefits start appearing after a few months of consistent practice. Children begin to show improved listening, confidence, and self-discipline. Adults gain more energy and feel healthier. Over time, the benefits become even more apparent and dramatic. As with learning any skill, consistent attendance and personal effort make a big impact on one’s knowledge and rate of progress.
